BMW-Motor 1000er

Hallo Reiner,

Vielen Dank
Gruß Reiner

Last winter I get C22 without engine. It was a perfect situation for replace 582 with some 4-takter. My choice was HKS700E and I am really happy with that engine.
At present moment price for this engine in Latvia is 6500 eur with exhaust type 5 and oil tank. And professional aviation mechanical take 500 eur for mount and wiring and now I get a plane that takes 10 ltr/hr. Engine weight 60 kg and has the same direction of rotation like 582, and with 3.47 gearbox I use 'original' Warp prop. TBO is 800 hrs and you can easy calculate economy that comes only from fuel price, than ad 2-tact oil and Rotax spark plugs and 300 hrs maintenance price. At present moment I put this plane on floats, but it is not tested jet....

No Guts - No Glory
Hi Uwe, Hi company!
My experience with this engine is limited with 45 hours in last summer, but it is 99% positive. The plane stays in garage now, but it is only time management problem.)
Engine is specially designed to be alternative to 582 and stay perfect on C-22. I think that 912 is to big and to heavy for so slow plane like C-22. HKS has 60 PS and it affected a climb rate but any way if you don't fly in mountains the difference is very low... It can be because my prop setting is for cruise too.
Engine has height compression rate (11.5 to 1) and starts and stops hard, similar with 912 ULS. If idle settings can be close to 2200 rpms than is no vibrations on lower range engine vibrates like any other 2 cylinder 4 takter. In another throttle positions engine is very very quiet.
But better talk is about economics! It is close to fly on air! With 20 liter in aerodrome area ( normally with low power required ) I can fly 2.5 hours and in any moment I add any quantity without mathematics about oil must be premixed.. In 100 hours I have 800 liter fuel economy. What is price of gas in Germany in this moment?
If you looking for HKS I can give you contacts from company who has some engines in stock in Latvia and last price was 6800 eur with EU VAT paid.

C-22 with HKS700E
Hi all!
Some time ago we speak about alternative engines for C-22. Now I can report to you about my experience with 'made in Japan' HKS engine. I let my dreams come true and put my plane on full lotus floats. This is fantastic engine! With only 60 hp it lift me ( I am 75 kg) with 130kg!! passenger in calm condition in downstream river! Of course I take all what engine can give to me in this moment, but if load is not so big ( with 60 kg girl ) I feel comfortable. If somebody have questions feel free, I try to give answers.
Yes, you can check short clip:

Hallo Reiner,
