was haltet Ihr davon?
Ich finde es toll das die Hersteller langsam auf die Wünsche des "Marktes" reagieren.

Oratex covering.
I hope to see you there.
Regards Rob
Hey Rob,
it is a pretty nice aeroplane.
You are the owner?
If yes, maybe you are able to give me few infos regarding the fabric.
Do you have any long term experience about the oracover?
How many kilos you saved with this kind of fabric instead the ceconit?
regards
UWE

Hi,
Thankyou for the nice comments on the aircraft.
We have been flying the Kid with oratex for about 1 year.
I think the weight saved is about 5kg using oratex.
The covering is easy to use and very quick. Also easy to repair.
If you have built and covered a model aircraft then you will have no problem using it.
We have been developing 3 engine options for the aircraft.
The Hirth F33 28hp
The Aero 40 Wankel 40hp
The Aero 30 boxer twin 32hp
The aero series of engines are our own development.
Here is a short youtube video of an early test run of the aero 40 wankel

Hi Stephan,
Well only having used the covering in England i cannot say to much about HOT and HUMID. My experience is that the covering does not slacken in the sun. Certainly we have damp conditions and that does not affect the covering.
The covering is also UV protected.
The only issue we had was with the covering over the fuel tank in the wing. This over time has slackened. I think possibly caused by ethanol vapours.
Regards Rob

Hi Erkki,
OK Wankel Aero 40.
Single rotor water cooled.
Electric start.
Installed weight 25kg.
2.5:1 reduction ratio belt drive.
Fuel burn 11L per hour.
Fully mapped electronic ignition.
Rev limiter 8000rpm
On board generator.
Thanks for your kind words.
The kid is a nice fun aircraft.
It was originally designed for the rotax 447 and 503
The wing is the same wing as used on the larger 2 seat Microlight / VLA Escapade.
Regards Rob

Rob, thank`s a lot for all those information but I have still a question concerning the oratex.martini_rob hat geschrieben:The only issue we had was with the covering over the fuel tank in the wing. This over time has slackened. I think possibly caused by ethanol vapours.

Do you had the issue just around the fuel filler port or the whole area was affected? It is still happens? In case yes, what will be your or Mr. Lanitz solution to fix this problem?
Best regards UWE

wankel
Sky`s`Kid

Hi,
With regard to the oratex. i have not yet investigated any more to the cause or solution. As this has only showed recently. Im sure reshrinking will solve the problem.
I will take a picture and let you guys see whats actually happening.
The aero 40.
Yes the aero 40 is based on the aixro wankel core.
The TBO of the engine we expect to be better then what you have with rotax 2 strokes.
The main failure will be the rotor bearing and we are recommending that the engine is checked by the factory at the end of each flying season.
The factory do this for a very reasonable price. i think around 300 euro. with a turn around of a few days.
Other problems like wear of the rotor tips which wankels were known for are a problem that was solved many years ago. Infact we use ceramic tips in our version.
